Cardboard Boat Race Official Rules

The rules are :
1. A boat is to be comprised of cardboard and duct tape ONLY
2. Boat can be crewed by one or more persons - either in or on the boat
3. Paddles and/or oars are allowed but no motors or mechanical means of propulsion. Boats can be pre assembled or completed on site.
4. Life jackets must be worn by all participants.
5. Removal of boat / debris from the water / ramp is boat owner's responsibility. Failure to remove your sodden mess will result in keel hauling! There will be a trailer available for trash (oops. I mean yachts!)
6. Cheering, rooting, yelling, screaming and lots of noise by spectators is heartily encouraged!
The honor system applies, these are the rules so please abide by them!
The race will be conducted on the north ramp as a "Le Mans" type start using a sound device (whistle). Racers will proceed off the ramp toward a mark, racers will round the mark (either to port or starboard) and proceed back to the ramp where the first one to arrive will be determined to be the winner.
Awards will be given for the following heats and categories :
- Children (any age) and One Adult
- Children under 12 years old
- Teenager
- Adult
- Best Boat
- Best Racer
A distinguished and illustrious panel of judges from the Order of the Old Gar will be presiding over the regatta and will be the official committee to officiate and solemnize the rules of the race.
