1. Rules: 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) and the current Championship Conditions and by the sailing instructions. 1.2 Questions concerning the conduct of the elimination series or the interpretation of the Conditions should be referred to: Mike Dawson 1.3 The Organizing Authority is the United States Sailing Association and The Atlanta Yacht Club, 7120 Yacht Club Dr., Acworth, GA 30102. 2. Alteration Of Class Rules: The Class rules will be used except that RRS 60.1 (a) is changed to prohibit a boat from protesting another boat for an alleged breach of a class rule requiring class membership or imposing a weight limit. The first sentence of ILCA class rule 7a is deleted. 3. Alteration Of The Racing Rules: RRS 61.1 (a), Appendix G and Appendix N are modified for this series. 4. Classes: 4.1 Sears: Triple handed, Thistle, supplied by Atlanta Yacht Club. 4.2 Bemis: Double handed, Club 420, supplied by Atlanta Yacht Club. 4.3 Smythe: Single handed, full rig Laser, bring your own boat. 5. Advertising: Elimination events as well as the Nationals shall be Category A in accordance with Appendix 1, Regulation 20 - ISAF Advertising Code. 6. Eligibility: 6.1 All competitors, including alternates must be:
6.2 No Skipper, after being entered or participating in any yacht club, community sailing or sailing association elimination may be a Skipper for any other yacht club, sailing club, or community sailing program in an association elimination regatta the same year except as a substitute under section 2 of the Championship Conditions. |

7. Schedule Of Events:

8. Registration: 8.1 An official entry form must be filled out completely and, along with an entry check made payable to the Atlanta Yacht Club, Attention Sears / Bemis / Smythe. Per the Area D Memorandum Agreement, two entries for each class will be allowed for DIYRA and FSA, one per class for SAYRA and GYA. If one RSA fails to supply an entrant to a class, the vacancy will be awarded to another RSA per the Area D Agreement. 8.2 The US Sailing membership number for all competitors must appear on the entry form. 9. Fees: 9.1 Sears Event (triple handed), the Regatta Event Fee of $75.00 (excludes meals) will be paid by the competitor / team and will be collected at registration. The damage deposit of $250.00 will be collected at registration. 9.2 Bemis Event (double handed), the Regatta Event Fee of $50.00 (excludes meals) will be paid by the competitor / team and will be collected at registration. The damage deposit of $250.00 will be collected at registration. 9.3 Smythe Event (single handed). the Regatta Event Fee of $25.00 (excludes meals) will be paid by the competitor and will be collected at registration. No additional entry fees are due the Smythe entries. 9.4 A meal package of Saturday breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday breakfast and lunch can be purchased for $45.00 per person for participants and non participants. Please notify the number of meals packages in registration. 10. Sailing Instructions: Sailing Instructions will be available at registration. 11. Course: The courses will be described in the sailing instructions. 12. Penalty System Appendix P - Immediate Penalties for Breaking Rules 42 will apply and be completed on the water. 13. Scoring: The low point scoring system, Appendix A as modified by the Sailing Instructions and Championship Conditions, will apply. Each boat's score will be the total of her scores in all races. 13.1 In the Sears and Bemis event, the number of races will equal the number of teams registered. If there are less than 4 teams, a double round robin will be sailed. One completed race shall constitute a series. 13.2 In the Smythe event, 6 races are scheduled of which one shall be completed to constitute a series. 14. Decisions Of The Jury: Decisions of the Jury will be final and will not be subject to appeal as per RRS 70.4(a). 15. Prizes: Provided by Area D. 16. Accommodations: 17.1 Housing is available for competitors in AYC members' personal cabins on a first come, first served basis. Contact Amanda Hodges, housing coordinator at 478-836-9130 or email her at sailingvet@pstel.net 17.2 Campers are welcome on club grounds and are invited to use the shower and restroom facilities. 17.3 The motels listed below are located on exit 277 at I-75:
17.4 Pets and motorcycles are not allowed on AYC grounds. 17.5 Airport pick up will be available if needed, arrangements for pick up must be completed by July 8, 2007. Safety: 18.1 All competitors in US SAILING Championships, at all levels, shall wear, while on the water, other than brief periods while adding or removing clothing, an approved PFD (US Coast Guard or Canadian) except where the ORC regulations apply. 18.2 A boat retiring from a race shall notify a Race Committee vessel before leaving the course, or, when that is impossible, the Regatta Office immediately after arrival ashore. 19. Advancement: 19.1 The winning team in the Sears event will advance to the Sears final held at Lavallette Yacht Club, Lavallette, NJ, August 11-16, 2007. 19.2 The first and second place teams in the Bemis and Smythe events will advance to their respective Championships held at the Bay Head Yacht Club and the Mantoloking Yacht Club in Bay Head, NJ, August 11-16, 2007. |
