AYC SAFETY EDUCATION PROGRAMS

CPR/First Aid/AED Certification

In-Person classes are offered every year, and last between 4-5 hours. Students learn about CPR for adults, children, and infants, basic first aid, and how to utilize an AED. Upon completion of the class, students are given a CPR card through the American Heart Association. This class meets the basic requirements for most individuals who need a CPR class, and fulfills the prerequisite for the US Sailing Instructor Level 1 certification.

CPR/First Aid/AED Blended course

Blended course: the blended course is for individuals who want the convenience of completing CPR and first aid at their leisure. Students learn through videos online at their own pace, and then schedule a skills check to receive their CPR card through the American Heart Association. This class meets the basic requirements for most individuals who need a CPR class. Contact Shelby Hatcher-Gosnell to get started!

Race Committee Training March 28, 2026

Attention New Members! Participating on Race Committee (RC) is expected of all AYC members and is a great way to learn more about other members and sailing. On March 30, 10am-noon there will be a discussion of AYC Race Committee basics for members who have not yet served on RC and those that want to learn more about it. We will talk through what the RC does, expectations of the RC team members, and demonstrate use of RC equipment - all with an emphasis on safety. We will meet at the Race Committee Signal Barge dock.

Contact Len Wert for more information about these events.
