Notice of Race

Sailing Instructions

The 2026 Women's Championship is being sailed in Thistles

The regatta is open to any female, who is a Member of the Atlanta Yacht Club, the wife of a Member, or dependent of a Member. All crew members must be female. Each participating skipper shall personally borrow a Thistle Class sailboat and race the same boat throughout the regatta.  A skipper may not sail her own boat.  Interested skippers may register online or the day of the regatta during the Competitors’ Meeting by providing the name of her crew and the sail number of the boat she will be sailing.  There is no fee for participation.  Three (3) races are scheduled.  One race sailed shall constitute a Championship.  All races will count. 

Schedule of Events

9:00 am: Competitors Meeting

9:30 am Thirty(30) minute signal for start of race one. 

9:55 am: First Race Warning Signal;  Race two to follow
12:30 – 1:15 pm (approx.): Lunch at the Clubhouse
1:30 pm (approx.):  Warning Signal Thirty(30) minutefor start of race three.
Three races are planned; no warning signal will be made after 4:00 pm
After the races – Awards & Cocktails at the Point

2025 Sailing Instructions

Come cheer on the top AYC women during Labor Day weekend as they compete in Snipes for the championship! Per the club rules, skippers must borrow a boat from someone else, whether they own one or not. It always makes for great competition.

Competitors: please be sure to register yourself, your crew and the sailing number on the Labor Day  Meals & Events registration . Free lunch will be provided to competitors.

Schedule of Events  

9:00 am: Competitors’ Meeting at the Point

9:30 am: Thirty (30) minute signal for start of Race One

9:55 am: Warning sound for Race One. Race Two to follow

12:30-1:15 pm (approx.): Packaged lunches will be available for pickup at the Point

1:30 pm (approx.): Thirty (30) minute signal for start of Race 3.  No races will start after 4:00 pm

The top three skippers will be recognized after the races.
