Honky-Tonk Halloween Regatta

First sailed in 1953, the AYC Snipe Halloween Regatta is now in it's 69th year!  Wow!  Come join the fun at this year's Haunted Honky-Tonk Snipe Halloween Regatta

The Snipe Halloween Regatta is the scene for great sailing as well as fun evening parties and activities.  So come on you Honky-Tonk men and Honky-Tonk Women!  Bring your boots and your best Hank Williams cowboy hat, but watch out for the spooks and the goblins! This event is kid-friendly, so bring the family to AYC for Halloween!

Do you know what a honky-tonk is?

Seafaring men of a few years ago knew very well, as the honky-tonks of San Francisco's Barbary Coast constituted perhaps the most vivid spots in their generally uneventful lives.

The name originated on the Barbary Coast and was applied to the low "dives" which formed so great a part of this notorious district. In these establishments, which were often of enormous size, much liquor was dispensed at the tables which crowded the floor, and entertainment of doubtful quality was given on a stage at one end of the room.

The honky-tonk, as a matter of fact, was the predecessor of the present-day cabaret or night club, the principal differences being that the prices were lower and that the former establishment made no pretense of "class."

This regatta is open to boats that are properly registered with SCIRA for the 2022 calendar year and registered skippers in good standing for 2022.   Join the Snipe Class.

Register your boat and select the meals you would like for skipper, crew and any non-sailing participants.   The Friday night chili dinner, and the traditional post-racing hot buttered rum party at the Point viewing pavilion are included gratis for all sailors thanks to Snipe Fleet 330!

Shirts!

Yee ha!  Don't wait to order your Honky-Tonk Halloween Sport-Tek Competitor Long Sleeve Performance Shirt!  Lightweight, roomy and highly breathable, these moisture-wicking shirts feature PosiCharge technology to lock in color and prevent logos from fading.  Orders must be placed on the registration page no later than end of day Sunday, October 2.   Don't wait!  Do it now!
